Penang is one of 13 states in the federation of Malaysia.
The state of Penang is made up of the island of Penang and a
narrow strip of land on the main coast. It is about 5
degrees north of the equator along the North-Western coast
of Peninsula Malaysia. The island of Penang is about 15
miles long by 7½ miles wide. The north side of the island is
home to some beautiful beaches, wonderful resorts, and the
Dalat International School. The island is connected to the
mainland by the longest bridge in Southeast Asia, which is
nearly 8½ miles long!

The
Dalat
International School is located on the island of

The school
actually has two staff members who previously lived in
Montana. Greg and Tara Stenlund teach in Dalat's high school
and their family lived in Montana prior to relocating to
Penang in 1999.
We thank Lisa
Munson, P.E. Teacher at Dalat, and Gerry Steiert (Dalat
Athletics Director), for signing up the 3rd and 4th graders
to participate in P.A.C.E. Trek 2008. We also thank the
classroom teachers of these virtual Montana runners and
walkers - Bronwyn Bodley, Missy Parsons and Karen Sasse. We
look forward to team "Flying Eagles" soaring through the
miles across Montana!
