The northwest U.S. route between the various parks totals 2,266 miles from the starting point of Yellowstone National Park in Montana to the finish line at Glacier National Park in Montana – to celebrate Glacier National Park's centennial. The virtual route is sort of in the shape of a horseshoe and took the kids through Montana, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. We chose a route that would be legal to run on (no interstates)... if the kids could really do so. Of course, the kids actually logged miles around their school gym and playground. The trek was been divided into five sections, as follows:
