The
purpose of virtual running/walking treks is for elementary students to gain
greater fitness while at the same time learning about the locations where
they virtually travel. It's through this combination of fitness and
learning that students experience places beyond their playground in a unique
and challenging way. This web site was developed by Paul Staso of
The P.A.C.E. Fitness Foundation
and has
acquire visitor traffic from around the world. Russell Elementary School in
Missoula, Montana has been the starting point for several virtual trek
curriculums, including: the 2005-2006
virtual run across America;
the 2007-2008 virtual run
along Route 66; and now
the 2009-2010 run to and through the national parks of the northwest United
States.
