If you've visited the route page, you know where Paul ran in Arizona, Nevada and California. When planning any P.A.C.E. Trek it is crucial to have pre-arranged stopping points. Paul planned the route to average 30 miles per day while staying in locations that were the most optimal for restocking the support stroller and doing body maintenance. Below is a list of his stopping points for each of the 17 days. As you see, he actually had several motels to stay in along the way, and only four nights in his tent on the desert floor. Before the run began, he spent 3 nights at the Maswik Lodge
on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. On April 11 he took an airplane from Missoula, Montana to Flagstaff, Arizona and then took a shuttle to the Maswik Lodge, starting P.A.C.E. Trek 2011 on April 14.

Paul used a one-man tent made by Eureka called "The StormShield". It weighs 2 pounds, 9 ounces and is 2' 8" x 8', with a center height of 2' 4". It has a double-wall construction and superior bug-free ventilation through door and full-panel mesh. 40D no-see-um netting, the tightest weave available, allows for good visibility and excellent bug control. The support stroller also carried a lightweight sleeping bag. Paul used satellite tracking technology and visitors to this site were able to see his progress and current location at any time during the 506-mile run.
