Missoula Kids Marathon - Sunday, July 12, 2009

Paul Staso Encourages Kids To Participate!

I, Paul, truly appreciate the wonderful efforts made by the many people who put together the Missoula Kids Marathon each year in my hometown of Missoula, Montana. My wife, Vicki, has served on the organization committee since the marathon began in 2007 and I had the honor of handing out finisher medals at the 2008 event. I recently joined the Missoula Kids Marathon committee and am happy to say that all four of my children have taken part in the marathon.

The Missoula Kids Marathon encourages children (ages 5-13) to become more physically fit by following a fun running and/or walking program. The goal is for each child to complete 25 miles before race weekend. On race day, children who are properly registered and have reached their mileage goal will complete the final 1.2 miles on the Missoula Marathon course in front of family, friends, and spectators. The final 1.2 miles is an untimed, non-competitive fun run.

For those kids who participate in P.A.C.E. Trek 2009 (logging mileage at school between April 22 and May 13, 2009), the Missoula Kids Marathon is a great way to take all of those miles and aim for completing the official marathon distance of 26.2 miles. Just log 25 miles before the Missoula Kids Marathon, and then you can enjoy a fun 1.2-mile run/walk that ends with a crowd of spectators cheering you across the finish line! Maybe your mom or dad will run the adult half marathon or full marathon on the same day that you run! Wouldn't it be great to spend the day together?! Join The Fun!
