The students only had one day of school this week due to the
Thanksgiving break. However, the 4th graders added 20 miles
to their trek and are now only 15½ miles behind the 5th
graders! The 4th grade class is now only 5 miles from
Springfield, Missouri and the 5th grade class is near
Elwood, Missouri. We'll be collecting mileage sheets from the kids
that they took home for the Thanksgiving holiday. They had
an opportunity to log walking and running mileage while away
from school and log the distance for the Route
66 trek.
On Sunday, November 17, Missoula received
its first snowfall of the season... a total of 9 inches. The
temperatures dropped to well below freezing, so the snow
stayed around all week. It's likely that the kids did more
sledding than walking or running during the Thanksgiving
holiday!
The 5th grade class only has 62 miles remaining in the state
of Missouri, while the 4th grade class only has 77½ miles
left before entering the next state that follows Missouri...
which is Kansas. We're still working on getting pictures
posted into the photo gallery of this web site and we
promise that it will be done soon. Even teachers need some
"vacation time". Thanks for checking in on the kids.
Hopefully the Thanksgiving holiday has energized them and
they'll be ready to continue their trek with a mighty
effort!
