"PACE" is an acronym for
Promoting
Active Children Everywhere and this
site features a
2008 FREE
FITNESS AND EDUCATION CHALLENGE to
children everywhere by ultra-endurance athlete Paul
Staso. In 2006 Paul completed a solo
coast-to-coast run across America to
keep a promise to some children in Montana (visit

This is a FREE
educational opportunity requiring no more than 10 to 15 minutes
per day for 14 school days! For a classroom, that's a
commitment of only 3½ hours total! Thousands of students in
the U.S.A. and overseas are registered to participate in
this inaugural P.A.C.E. Trek.
Paul is a former 5th grade teacher who is committed
to encouraging children toward greater health and fitness,
and the pursuit of their goals and dreams.
His unique approach is to use his ultra-endurance abilities
to get kids running, walking and learning through
long-distance journeys.
During P.A.C.E. Trek 2008 teams of children,
ages 5 through 18 years, will "virtually" race
Paul 620 miles across Montana, USA.
Students will participate in the journey by acquiring
running and walking mileage at school (such as in physical
education class, recess, or some other time). Also, some
extracurricular sports mileage will be allowed. However, this
trek is not only for school teams.
Non-school teams will participate also. Throughout the journey
children will learn about the locations Paul
will actually run through alone via details at this
web site (including pictures, journal entries and videos
posted during the trek). Schools from the U.S.A. and
overseas will be involved in this journey, including
students in Department of Defense schools for military
families.
The trek will begin on April 28, 2008 at the Montana/North
Dakota border and end on May 16, 2008 at the top of Lolo
Pass at the Montana/Idaho border. More details can be found by selecting your students' age level:
