Learn Something Today About Germany...

Today P.A.C.E. Trek 2010 ended in Landstuhl, Germany. Landstuhl is a municipality of over 10,000 people and is situated on the north-western edge of the Palatinate forest. It is perhaps best known in the United States because of the U.S. Army's medical installation. The Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Center, a U.S. Army Medical Command post (and the largest military hospital outside of the continental United States), is often the first stop for American casualties leaving the ongoing conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ramstein Air Base is also located nearby. Landstuhl was built on the site of earlier Celtic and Germanic-Roman settlements. The city has several churches and buildings which date back hundreds of years. Among the historic structures in town are the "Alte Kapelle" (Old Chapel), constructed in 1300, and "Pfarrkirche St. Andreas" which dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries. P.A.C.E. Trek 2010 ended at Landstuhl Elementary-Middle School.

Learn Something Today About Health & Fitness...

I, Paul, want to thank you for visiting this P.A.C.E. Trek 2010 web site each day during this 500-mile, 3-week solo run through Germany. I've shared many different health and fitness reports in this particular section of the online classroom and I hope that you've enjoyed following my progress. It was certainly a physically-demanding P.A.C.E. Trek through Germany. Without the assistance of some wonderful people along the way providing me with shelter, food, and other spontaneous care, this three-week solo run across Germany would not have been possible. I want to thank each and every person who encouraged me along the way. It was an adventure I'll never forget. Please stay active and healthy and join me on the next P.A.C.E. Trek!

Did You Know?

Since the annual P.A.C.E. Treks began in April 2008, there have been about 50,000 school children worldwide that have logged well over 200,000 miles while virtually running and walking with Paul Staso. So far, Paul has run 4,884 miles solo across states and countries for P.A.C.E., logging the equivalent of 188 marathons in 167 days on the road - all while pushing his 80-pound support stroller ("BOB") through conditions ranging from 15°F to 106°F, through snow storms, strong winds, rain, sleet, hail, tornado warnings, floods, blackness of night, scorching sun, large cities, small towns, and across desolate plains and rugged mountains. During P.A.C.E. endeavors Paul has battled tendonitis, muscle strains, blisters, loss of toenails, sunburns, windburns, and many ice baths to treat his aching legs. He's had to jump from the edge of the road 10 times – pulling his support stroller with him – to avoid being hit by inattentive motorists. In June 2009, Paul created The P.A.C.E. Fitness Foundation and hopes to acquire support from sponsors and contributors for future P.A.C.E. challenges to benefit children. To date, he has spent approximately $10,000.00 of his own money to make the P.A.C.E. journeys possible. Where will Paul go for the next P.A.C.E. Trek adventure? Be sure to check the P.A.C.E. web site (www.pacetrek.com) soon for details! ______________________________________________________________________________
