Learn Something Today About Germany...

Hohenfels is a municipality in the district of Neumarkt in the region of Upper Palatinate in Bavaria, Germany. The town is host to the United States Army Garrison Hohenfels, which operates the Joint Multinational Readiness Center for training NATO armed forces. Today's route went through the city of Amberg, population around 45,000. On August 24, 1796, during the French Revolutionary Wars, the city and its surrounding area were the location of a major battle. Here 35,000 French, under the command of Jean Baptiste Jourdan, fought with 40,000 under the command of Archduke Charles. The French suffered significantly more losses in this Austrian victory. A defining feature of Amberg is the Stadtbrille (literally "town spectacles") – a bridge, originally a part of the town fortifications, whose arches reflected on the river resemble a pair of glasses. There is also a well preserved section of the medieval walls and gates in Amberg.

Learn Something Today About Health & Fitness...

Did you know that exercise boosts brainpower? Not only does exercise improve your body, it helps your mental function. Exercise increases energy levels and increases serotonin in the brain, which leads to improved mental clarity. All that makes for a more productive day. Improved productivity not only makes you a better worker (like in school), it makes things better for those around you. Take care of your body and you'll also be taking care of your brain. You're born with just about all the neurons (nerve cells) that your brain will ever have. Damaged brains are not easy to fix! Each year there are about 300,000 brain concussions that occur during sports activities. Be careful out there and take care of your brain while boosting brainpower!

Did You Know?

You have 213 bones in your body supporting 640 muscles. About 14% of your body weight is bone, and 40% is muscle. There are 22 bones in your skull, 33 bones or vertebrae in your spine, and 27 bones in your hand. The longest bone is the femur, or thighbone, and the longest muscle is the sartorius on the inside of the thigh. The biggest muscle in your body is the gluteus maximus, or buttock - which is what you sit on! Your body is very complex. ______________________________________________________________________________
