Learn
Something Today About Germany...
This was a day off the road in Bitburg
(except for doing a 1-mile fun run!).
Germany has approximate 6,200 privately owned fitness centers, most of
which are small non-franchised operations. For those wanting to be
outside of the gym, Volksmarching is popular. Volksmarching is a form of
organized walking that involves registration for a small fee at the
beginning and a trinket at the end with refreshments! The routes vary
from 10 km - 30 km. The only thing you need is a sturdy pair of shoes or
boots. At sign up you will be given a card to be stamped at specific
checkpoints en route. The trinket, which is typically a medal or a small
figurine, is your reward for completing the walk. Volksmarches can take
you to various locations throughout Germany, France, Switzerland and
Austria and are a wonderful way to see the countryside on foot and get
fit! But should biking be more your style, you would enjoy Germany with
its over 40,000 km (over 24,000 miles) of marked biking trails. Germans
themselves should take advantage of this. The International Association
for the Study of Obesity found that among European countries, Germany
out weighted them all, with 58.9 percent of women and 75.4 percent of
men tipping the scales at unhealthy levels. These numbers add up to
about 37 million adults and 2 million children and teenagers suffering
from some kind of weight related disorders.

Something Today About Health & Fitness...
Many people don't know that I, Paul, often
speak at schools, giving assemblies to share about P.A.C.E. adventures;
the importance of having a healthy lifestyle; and, pursuing goals and
dreams. Depending on the audience age, I tailor my message for optimal
interest and understanding by those attending, always allowing for a
question and answer period. I welcome all opportunities to speak to
children and adults, whether it be an elementary school, middle school,
high school, college class, sports team, running club, retirement home,
medical facility, business, church group, or other community
organization. I bring along a music slideshow to share images of my
P.A.C.E. journeys and presentation times range from 30 minutes to 90
minutes, depending on the time available. I will also do multiple
presentations in a day, if needed. I can even bring "BOB" along so that
your students can see up close what I push for thousands of miles during
P.A.C.E. endeavors! You can learn more about my school assemblies by
going to

Did
You Know?
Today's "Did You Know" is a
bit gross, but informative! Did you know… that boogers and snot are like
a gate – they stop germs, dirt and pollen before they get can get to
your lungs. And if you have allergies, your nose runs when you're around
what you're allergic to because your body treats those things like
germs! Did you know… your body makes spit 24 hours a day. It's a factory
for saliva, the clear liquid that keeps your mouth moist. It would be
hard to eat without spit, because your food would be extremely hard!
Saliva also keeps your mouth clean by rinsing it continuously! Did you
know... sinuses are empty spaces in your skull near your nose that are
basically snot factories. They're where the mucus is produced – and you
sure know where they are when you get a cold and have green mucus. Green
mucus is a sure sign your sinuses are infected. ______________________________________________________________________________
